TO FIND OUT HOW TO HELP THE PEOPLE OF ROSS DURING THIS EMERGENCY
People often ask what can be done to make Ross better. It often seems impossible for one individual to make any real positive changes. One person cannot do everything, one person can feel like it is pointless to try. The answer is to join forces with other similar minded people, together you will make a difference.
Here’s some suggestions of things you can do to improve Ross On Wye, and have some fun at the same time.
The easiest way is to join an existing organisation. There are many existing organisations already set up in Ross. They are all crying out for volunteers to help them organise and run events. Just pick one and check it out. If it doesn't suit you, leave and try another. You will find one doing something which you can get involved with. Many of them have been running events in Ross for years, others are just starting up. If you want to see events thriving in Ross you have to get involved in some way. There’s a list below, which is NOT comprehensive, there are many others, but it gives some idea . of the scope of opportunities available. But first…
…a word on commitment.
Don’t worry about committing yourself in any way. Each of us only has a limited amount of time and energy we are able to give. One hour a week is better than nothing, and the more people who give some time or effort, the less falls on the shoulders of a few valiant souls. None of the organisations ask you to do more than you are happy to do and most are free to join.
If you find you are doing too much, just be strong and feel free to say NO if you want. The fear of being ‘roped in’ to an endless stream of tasks is the main reason people don’t get involved at all.
